Description
High definition sprites of the Paper Mario version of Kamek, Bowser's father figure. While Magikoopas did appear in Super Mario World, Kamek first appeared in Yoshi's Island (available on Super NES Classic). This was a request from LooneyTunerIan.
While we all know which Paper Mario game Kamek officially debuted in- as well as who got booted out in exchange- many fans believe Kamek has had minor appearances in the previous three Paper Mario games. These appearances are a stalking Magikoopa in Paper Mario 64, the Magikoopa telling Kammy information in TTYD, and the Magikoopa near Bowser in SPM.
With what actually happened, Kamek never fought Mario under normal circumstances. Instead, he would use magic to make things harder and more frustrating for the player. This included giving Mario flipflops unable to hit air enemies, shrinking Mario, and randomly cursing Mario- even after being defeated in the main story.
In the DMZ timeline, Kammy takes back her role for Sticker Star Recut. Instead, Kamek's official debut in that timeline would come with the fangame topic Paper Mario Wonder Journey, where his more laid-back personality brings him to blows with Kammy's more outspoken one. While he still retains most of his role in the Mario and Luigi crossover recut, eventually Kammy enters the picture. In addition, Kamek appears in fangame topic Paper Mario Relic Hunter without Kammy, looking after an unusually sick Bowser. Finally, Kamek's role is completely overhauled in Color Splash Recut. He no longer handles the (now much more rebalanced) pollination system. What he does do is sensitive information, but he's still around Prism Island...along with Kammy.
As a bonus, I made sprites for three colorations of normal Magikoopas.
